4/14/2023 0 Comments Top ten dropkick murphys albums![]() ![]() “Good As Gold” starts with the crackle of vinyl as the needle is placed on the record before it explodes into a trademark anthemic Dropkick song with shout outs to the music that brought them to the dance and how the power of the music lifts people, a cracking track. “H.B.D.M.F” is an acoustic tongue in cheek poke at those who over celebrate their birthdays, aside from the mickey-taking it is actually a really good song with a rousing chorus, great whistle, banjo and accordion, this will go down a treat once live shows are back. “Mick Jones Nicked My Pudding” is as far removed from the previous track as can be, a raucous punk rager that takes a sneaky dig at Mick Jones of The Clash for robbing their friend’s tasty treat from the fridge, pounding drums and crisp riffs are the order of the day on this short but sweet track. “Queen Of Suffolk County” is more folk than punk rock but is still a killer tune and catchy as hell. “Middle Finger” does exactly what the title says, gives the middle finger to all and sundry in an upbeat jaunty fashion with a nice little kick. “L-EE-B-O-Y” is an ode to current bagpipe player Lee Forshner, much like they did previously with Spicy McHaggis, they have immortalised his time in the band with an all-around cracking song, the amazing thing is this was done without him knowing as he just recorded an instrumental version. “Turn Up That Dial” gets things underway in typical Dropkick fashion a wall of sound of drums, accordion and guitars with Casey and Barr trading vocals that will get your arse up out of the chair to jump around, a funky accordion solo adds a nice touch. Eleven songs that are a mix of good-time Punk-Rock, tongue in cheek fun and some heartfelt laments. Safe to say I have been eagerly awaiting this album since it was announced a new one was coming and I have to say it does not disappoint. Whether it’s Punk-Rock or a mellow Irish infused track there is an energy that is hard to describe, it just stirs something inside. ![]() Being a fan for twenty odd years and featuring heavily on any playlist I have, these guys have always been my go-to band whether it’s working out or just chilling.
